The faeces of people reveals a lot about their health and thus plays an important role in the early identification of diseases, including colorectal cancer. The current method for collecting faeces is, however, extremely patient-unfriendly.
It also entails several health risks and the results are not always reliable. To solve this problem, Excretas Medical has developed the FECOTAINER: a disposable feces collector that is simply placed under the toilet seat ‘before use’ and can be well sealed with a stopper and lid ‘after use’, and then sent hygienically to a laboratory.
Several prototypes of the stool collector have been tested in practice and assessed positively. The suggestions made by patients and doctors were used in the final design. The FECOTAINER is a patented stool collector that is very user-friendly. It is the most reliable faeces collection method for stool testing.
The stool collector is the perfect solution for stool collection. The FECOTAINER provides the most reliable results in stool testing and laboratory technicians run fewer health risks (infectious diseases can be transmitted by smeared faeces jars). The stool collector is made from recyclable plastic.
After delivery and testing of the sample at the laboratory, the stool collector can be thrown away like any other disposable. The stool collector is collapsible and when expanded it is a mere 28mm high. The package thus fits through a letterbox. This makes the stool collector ideally suited to large-scale population studies into colonl cancer. Its user-friendly and inviting features increase the degree of acceptation and the participation rate in research.
In addition to gastrointestinal specialists and general practitioners and pediatricians, this product can also be used by dietitians and commercial clinics that offer preventive medical examinations.
