CBInsights did an investigation to pooptech startups and found out they received over half a billion in investments.

Especially in the gut microbiome area there are very interesting startups. If the stool (poop) of patients is collected it is possible, with among biomarkers, to detect diseases and microorganisms. Some tests can detects microorganisms associated with symptoms such as constipation, bloating, diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and ulcerative colitis.

Off course very common is already the iFOB test.

Fecal occult blood (FOB) refers to blood in the feces that is not visibly apparent (unlike other types of blood in stool such as melena or hematochezia). A fecal occult blood test (FOBT) checks for hidden (occult) blood in the stool (feces).

In any case stool of patients have to be collected, as first step in the process. Excretas Medical developed the most perfect feces collector / stool collector for this process.
